The Trailer Detective takes a closer look at movie trailers and comments on obscure, overlooked, or other random things that appear in the film preview.
Are you in need of something thrilling? Do you want to watch something that leaves you on the edge of your seat? Do you want to watch a trilogy? I’m not talking about the Jurassic Park movies–I’m talking about the first three seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer streaming on Netflix. On the subject of dinosaurs though, you might ask: how on Earth is a movie about the dangers of bringing extinct species back to life that could wreak havoc on the human race related to a TV show about a man who tackles the injustices of society from the backseat of his spacious luxury vehicle?
Well, after watching the trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth, I have an answer. Though the movie stars A-listers Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, the star of The Lincoln Lawyer, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, flashes across the screen. He appears to be protecting a kid on a boat while underwater dino-sharks swim around them:

This raises more questions than answers.
The Wikipedia page describes his character, Reuben Delgado, as “the father of a shipwrecked civilian family.”
Okay, so if you were shipwrecked…WHY ARE YOU BACK ON A BOAT?
WHY ARE YOU BACK ON A BOAT SURROUNDED BY DINOSAURS???
ESPECIALLY IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED BECAUSE YOUR FIRST SHIP WAS ATTACKED BY DINOSAURS????? (This last question is speculation, but wouldn’t that be the most illogical plot, like, ever????)
I am just so curious to learn more about Reuben’s story here. Do he and his family just get shipwrecked and then ScarJo and JoBae (Jonathan Bailey, obviously) rescue him? Are they saving him and his family from dinosaurs on land? Only to put him in more danger with creatures in the water that look suspiciously similar to the meg from The Meg?
Spot the difference! Which creature comes from which movie?; Top: Screenshot/Universal Pictures via YouTube; Bottom: Screenshot/Movieclips via YouTube
The movie about a prehistoric shark wreaking havoc on society didn’t end with kittens and rainbows. If there were giant sharks in the water I think I would, I don’t know, try a helicopter instead? Especially after previously getting shipwrecked??
If anything, The Lincoln Lawyer could just use his Lincoln to escape the wrath of these mega monstrosities!
Whatever the case, I am already seated for summer release on July 2. I know we won’t get season 4 of the Lincoln Lawyer by then, and even though I am hungry for watching the Lincoln Lawyer fight for justice, I will settle for the Lincoln Lawyer fighting dinosaurs. Just please, please don’t kill off his character in Jurassic World. I already can’t deal with the fact that the Lincoln Lawyer might go to prison for a crime he didn’t commit!
